Artisan Workspace & Showroom
New commercial workspace and showrooms for artisan joiners.
Masterplan and HQ building
In 2019 Arigho Larmour Wheeler Architects worked with an artisan workshop on proposals for a new workshop space.
We initially undertook a feasibility study to assist in the development of a brief for the proposed expansion of their workshop. The options provided were intended to inform initial discussions on the suitability of potential sites, size of building required, design, forms of construction and associated costs.
The care of the craft resonates with our own approach to design. We seek to find a thoughtful and considered response to each project and opportunity to collaborate that we encounter. Through this work we studied and reflected on the detailed rhythm of materials and their connections in this particular project paired with an appreciation of the quiet beauty of very particular material qualities, exploring sustainable methods of construction including Glulam timber and CLT.
ALWA analysed how the factory processes worked designed a highly efficient well organised building in line with the ethos of the workshop.
